How did September treat YOU?
♈ ARIES
You decided that because you’d survived winter, you were now invincible. September promptly tested that theory. You hiked, fixed things, started projects and attempted to reorganise the village. By lunchtime you were muddy, sunburnt and furious with someone who parked badly at the village. Classic Hogsback Aries. You didn’t need a September forecast — you needed adult supervision.
♉ TAURUS
You finally opened the curtains after months of strategic hibernation and discovered the garden had developed its own ecosystem. Fortunately, there was still enough firewood for another weekend of doing absolutely nothing about it. You found the market, the coffee and something delicious instead. The weeds grew. You didn’t. Frankly, that’s commitment to your values.
♊ GEMINI
You managed three conversations simultaneously: one in person, one on WhatsApp and one entirely in your head about something someone said at a meeting in 2024. September provided fresh gossip, fresh visitors and several opportunities to travel and explore still lie ahead. You also discovered that yes is as full a sentence as no, test the theory in October. Now the challenge is learning that “I know something” isn’t necessarily an invitation to tell everyone.
♋ CANCER
Spring made you sentimental. A flower appeared, a bird sang, the sun came out and suddenly you were emotionally attached to the entire mountain again. You photographed blossoms, fed someone’s dog, bought something handmade and told visitors how beautiful Hogsback was before everyone discovered it. By the end of September you’d adopted at least one person, plant or animal — and probably couldn’t remember which one had actually been yours to begin with.
♌ LEO
The grey winter wardrobe came off and you were ready to be seen again. September provided markets, fresh air, sunny hikes and ample opportunities to become the main character. The snow photos finally stopped getting likes, so naturally you needed a new stage. Fortunately, Hogsback has never been short of an audience — although some of them were probably just trying to get past you.
♍ VIRGO
Spring cleaning activated something dangerous in you. You noticed neglected gutters, untidy gardens, broken fences, crooked trail signs, spelling mistakes and recycling in the wrong place. Someone’s dog was also wandering around without a lead. September gave you purpose. God help the rest of us. You came looking for spring and found a full municipal inspection instead.
♎ LIBRA
You spent September trying to balance gardening, socialising, avoiding people, supporting local businesses and pretending you didn’t have twelve unanswered messages. You wanted sunshine, but also mist; flowers, but also fires; visitors, but not too many. Your greatest achievement this month was turning indecision into an actual lifestyle.
♏ SCORPIO
You emerged from winter quieter, sharper and somehow more informed than before. Nobody knew what you’d been doing. Nobody was entirely sure they wanted to know. You knew who left, who arrived, who broke up, who got a new dog and who suddenly became passionate about pottery. You said nothing. Your eyebrow, however, has apparently been running an independent intelligence operation.
♐ SAGITTARIUS
One sunny afternoon convinced you that summer had arrived, and you responded by attempting a three-hour mountain hike in inappropriate shoes. Somewhere between a waterfall, a forest track and a place you swore was definitely on the map, you became temporarily unavailable. You called it an adventure. Everyone else called it another search party. At least you provided content for the WhatsApp group.
♑ CAPRICORN
You survived winter, the snow, Christmas in July and whatever fresh crisis August delivered. September presented you with another list of things that needed doing. Naturally, you did them — while complaining that nobody else was doing them properly. Your woodpile was stacked, your generator was ready and your gutters had been inspected. Relaxation remains suspicious behaviour in your book, and frankly, your neighbours are exhausted just watching you.
♒ AQUARIUS
The snow gave you dangerous confidence. You decided you could manifest anything — better weather, community harmony and possibly a sustainable solution to Hogsback’s potholes. September produced six new ideas for the village, including one involving tourism, another involving technology and one nobody quite understood. Please finish one revolution before launching the next. Even Hogsback needs time to update its software.
♓ PISCES
September had you wandering through the forest believing every shaft of sunlight was a message from the universe. You photographed moss, mushrooms, mist and a particularly meaningful-looking tree, returning hours later with no idea where you’d been but a profound new understanding of your life. It may have been enlightenment. It may have been Hogsback. Either way, you still managed to lose the trail while following your intuition.
SEPTEMBER IN HOGSBACK — THE RETROSPECTIVE
Snow: Still being discussed as though it happened yesterday.
Spring: Made several promising appearances.
Dogs: Continued to believe they owned the village.
Woodpiles: Inspected unnecessarily as Pulse reminders pile up.
Markets: Locals successfully pretended they were “just browsing.”
WhatsApp: Survived another month, but NOT without “Deleted by Admin”.
Visitors: Continued asking whether it always looks like this.
Locals: Continued saying, “Pretty much.
